New Mexico School for the Arts is in the midst of renovating and repurposing their new Railyard location, and they’re wasting no time injecting fresh creative energy into the arts district. The arts high school presents a special performance series at form & concept, hosted by faculty members and showcasing outstanding student musicians, fiction writers and poets. Make sure to mark your calendar for NMSA performances on the first Thursday of each month.

Program

The event will feature works by three young writers—from a somber piece in which a woman comes to terms with personal trauma in the midst of a hurricane, to an English murder mystery, to a humorous piece about seducing Death to avoid, well… dying.

The music will be curated and lead by Orlando Madrid, NMSA’s new Jazz Studies faculty. The music will feature small-set jazz duos. Madrid will perform alongside former NMSA Jazz teacher and local legend Bert Dalton. Adam Griffo (saxophone) and Than Povi Martinez (dancer) will present a collaborative dance/jazz solo performance.
