Overview
Hisashi Shibata believes that every material, whether living or non-living, possesses a unique soul. Each jewelry piece tells a story, sometimes figurative, sometimes abstract, that echoes everyday human gestures and the simplicity of nature. Over the past two decades, Shibata has honed his craft in his Amsterdam studio, producing works that play with common perceptions. As he puts it, "I want to have fun deceiving people's preconceptions about materials and items based on their assumptions."
