The three bronze Breastplates sculptures are based on traditional breastplates used as armor throughout history. They have been altered to suit a lady and are based on Victorian ladies’ blouses. Breastplate (reveal) is what I equate with Superman opening his shirt to reveal his powers, but instead of and “S” there is a chest full of crystals. My pieces represent protection for women by taking the restricted quality of the Victorian era and turning it into hidden power. My Breastplate sculptures address power/vulnerability issues similar to my Crystal Brass Knuckles piece now in the Smithsonian's permanent collection.
