Records dating back at least 500 years show its use as both an edible and medicinal plant; I have seen it growing out of fences and sidewalk cracks like a weed. To create the Prussian blue images I use the cyanotype process, a historical technique pioneered by the British botanist Anna Atkins 175 years ago. The process involves coating paper with iron salts and exposing it to UV light."
