The names, tribes, ages, and years purchased came from a list of Colorado Indian captives as reported by Lafayette Head, Indian Agent for Southern Colorado, in 1865, in a report prepared for the Colorado Territorial Governor John Evans. In turn, the Lafayette Head records were used by historian Virginia Sanchez in her article Colorado Indian Acquisitions, published in the Colorado Hispanic Genealogist, Volume 5, Number 3 - Fall 2008.
